Studio Update -> New table, headphone repair and Keys Special with Cubase LE 5

Last weekend we once visited Ikea and i bought a new table for the audio producing equipment.
One of my boys played with my gemini EM-300 headphones (I use them as backup for my Sennheiser HD 25) and after that, it was a mono one 
So I had to open and repair it.
One morning last week I visited a kiosk at the railway station. It’s the best place to find music producing magazines, because they have the largest selection (beside airports). Found this one with a free Cubase Le 5 Version. Nice for testing, because currently, I have some problems finding the right workflow for midi editing in Abelton Live. It’s so unfamiliar.

Damn! I was sick and because of that the finishing of the upgrade will have a short delay. Today a managed to build up (or better said to move) the dj equipment. Currently all the connections look a little messy, but I hope Bob the Builder will help me cleaning up.

Some news: Homestudio upgrade still in progress & Apple Macbook Pro iCore rumors (Updated)

So, I started last weekend the homestudio upgrade. But after a long sleepless night (anyone who has children knows what I’m talking about) I did not finish it jet. For some testing, turntable and a numark cm200 dj mixer were installed, which worked good.
A now to the Macbook rumor: Since Apple switched to Intel cpus, they were always very fast in bringing out new devices, when a new CPU family arrived. So I just waited with the purchase of my new macbook, because Intel presented new notebook cpus. (iCore 5 /iCore 7). today I was happy to read some rumors that there could be very soon a release of some new macbook pro models.
Update: The apple online store is currently offline, so it’s looks like the rumor has some truth in it.
Homestudio Upgrade: Before …

So in the last week I worked a lot on rebuilding my homestudio. Today, we started early in the morning to Ikea in cologne and we bought the typical Expedit & Capita Combo. So this is how it looks before we start with the upgrade:

With the beginning of february 2010, Native Instruments new Traktor Kontrol X1 Midi Controller designed for Traktor (Scratch) Pro is available from resellers (if your have enough luck, because it’s been sold out at many places)

Today I found some information about 2 contests that I want to share with you:
Defected launch the Dig out your soul producer contest 2010 in partnership with ableton, traxsource and loopmasters.
And for the german midi controller djs, Vestax presents the digital-dj-battle 2010.
This one goes out to the pure midi controller jockeys, no turntables, external synth or other gear allowed. So DVS users, leave your timecode vinyls at home!
Traktor Pro 14 Bit Pitchfader Bugfix works!

I just have tested the new bugfix Release and the Pitchfaders on my Reloop Digital Jockey 2 controller are now working with a very fine ptich resolution. Surely, this cotroller does not have the built quality like the vestax or allen&heath controllers, but it has a really good bang for the buck.
Ableton DJ on 4 Decks like Traktor?

Peter Kirn from Create Digital Music has a nice entry on his blog with a youtube vid from Ilan Kriger, where you can see running 4 Ableton live instances at once, placed on the screen like the traktor decks.
How did Ilan does this? He used 4 different Version of Ableton Live and the latest version (8) sends the sync signal.
