Studio Update -> New table, headphone repair and Keys Special with Cubase LE 5
Mar 3rd
Last weekend we once visited Ikea and i bought a new table for the audio producing equipment.
One of my boys played with my gemini EM-300 headphones (I use them as backup for my Sennheiser HD 25) and after that, it was a mono one
So I had to open and repair it.
One morning last week I visited a kiosk at the railway station. It’s the best place to find music producing magazines, because they have the largest selection (beside airports). Found this one with a free Cubase Le 5 Version. Nice for testing, because currently, I have some problems finding the right workflow for midi editing in Abelton Live. It’s so unfamiliar.

DJTechTools Midi Fighter in Persona, Ean Golden, presents some nice vids showing how you can drive the Traktor Pro FX to the max.
Traktor Pro 14 Bit Pitchfader Bugfix works!
Jan 28th
I just have tested the new bugfix Release and the Pitchfaders on my Reloop Digital Jockey 2 controller are now working with a very fine ptich resolution. Surely, this cotroller does not have the built quality like the vestax or allen&heath controllers, but it has a really good bang for the buck.
Ableton DJ on 4 Decks like Traktor?
Jan 28th
Peter Kirn from Create Digital Music has a nice entry on his blog with a youtube vid from Ilan Kriger, where you can see running 4 Ableton live instances at once, placed on the screen like the traktor decks.
How did Ilan does this? He used 4 different Version of Ableton Live and the latest version (8) sends the sync signal.
Some News: Traktor Pro Update
Jan 21st
So Native Instruments released a new Update for Traktor / Scratch / Pro / Duo / Le Family: 1.2.4 Find more information here
A List of Bugfixes
- Potential feedback overload with certain delay and reverb algorithms fixed
- Hotcue deletion with locked beat grid fixed
- 14bit resolution for MIDI pitch fader fixed
- Setup Wizard now assigns decks properly for timecode mode
I hope the 14 bit resolution Bugfix fixes my issues with the reloop controller, because currently the default midi layout pitch resolution sucks.
I did not have to to test, because I spent most of my studio time for installing the latest versions aof Ableton Live and Native Instruments Komplete 6.
The huge sample library installation is very time consuming.

- A choice of 2, 3 or 4 decks with supported Rane hardware.
- Built-in DJ FX with an assignable “Super Knob” for quick live tweaking.

- Enhanced Album Art browsing for quick identification of your music.
- Build “Smart Crates” easily using keywords from your music library.

Namm 2010 Roundup (Updated Twice)
Jan 13th
Being always interested in new technologies, trade fairs are important milestones in a digital djs life. Not that you’ll need to visit them, all those websites and blogs do a good job on keep you informed. This Winter Namm, Serato & Ableton will announce some new product. EKS will present the final Otus Raw, this one will come with two long Pitchfader instead of ribbon controlled pitch, which surely has advantages and disadvantages.
And Amercian Audio promise a radical change of perception with their new VMS4.
I hope Soon there will be more information.
By the way, good sources for those, who want to get the latest infoformation are these websites: skratchworx.com, gearjunkies.com and sonicstate.com.
UPDATE:
Looks like the APC40 gets a little Brother, the APC20. This one is missing the rotaries on the right. So anyone who has already some midi controller(s) could use this as a good addition for launching clips but paying less then for the apc40.
UPDATE 2:
The MPD24 has a new, almost identical Brother: The MPD26 Bigger Transport Buttons, less rotaries
For those who understand german those places could be interesting too: de-bug.de, delemar.de and salection.de.
Yeah! New toys for the boy …
Jan 5th
Today I got some new software. Ableton Live 8 & Native Instruments Komplete 6 both as upgrades because I already own some stuff of both companies. I could not resist from ordering because of the current discount. Ableton now exists for 10 years! Happy Birthday! I guess even if I’m not someone who can be called the typical proud german I’m really excited that germany is a top notch audio software producer. Steinberg, Ableton, Native Instruments (and can you remember Emagic) they all bring us those exciting products like Cubase, Live, Traktor, Reaktor and many more….
