Jan 15th
Serato released yesterday as a preview the much anticipated Version 2 of Serato Scratch Live, the DVS Software also known as SSL.
So what’s new? More Decks, DJ FX and the bridge, I posted yesterday a first information bout it.
Here are some details:
- Control Ableton Live and make editable Mixtapes with “The Bridge”.
- A choice of 2, 3 or 4 decks with supported Rane hardware.
- Built-in DJ FX with an assignable “Super Knob” for quick live tweaking.
- Brand new Display Modes with a range screen layouts to suit your style of performing.
- Enhanced Album Art browsing for quick identification of your music.
- Build “Smart Crates” easily using keywords from your music library.
- Export your track plays and share them online with “Serato Playlists”
So Serato is getting one step closer to Traktor Scratch Pro concerning the amount of features.

Being always interested in new technologies, trade fairs are important milestones in a digital djs life. Not that you’ll need to visit them, all those websites and blogs do a good job on keep you informed. This Winter Namm, Serato & Ableton will announce some new product. EKS will present the final Otus Raw, this one will come with two long Pitchfader instead of ribbon controlled pitch, which surely has advantages and disadvantages.
And Amercian Audio promise a radical change of perception with their new VMS4.
I hope Soon there will be more information.
By the way, good sources for those, who want to get the latest infoformation are these websites: skratchworx.com, gearjunkies.com and sonicstate.com.
UPDATE:
Looks like the APC40 gets a little Brother, the APC20. This one is missing the rotaries on the right. So anyone who has already some midi controller(s) could use this as a good addition for launching clips but paying less then for the apc40.
UPDATE 2:
The MPD24 has a new, almost identical Brother: The MPD26 Bigger Transport Buttons, less rotaries
